Asian Market Escondido

Apply to join the team at Asian Market La Sorpresa Barata.

We’re a family-owned grocery in Escondido and we hire cashiers, stockers, butchers, and shift leads year-round. Most people fill the application out in 10–15 minutes — your draft saves automatically.

We never ask for your Social Security number or photo ID online. We verify those in person, only after a job offer. If anyone claiming to represent the market asks for this online, it isn’t us.

What we look for

Skills we can teach. Character matters more.

Hospitality first

We treat customers like neighbors — because most of them are. Friendly, patient, helpful: that's the bar.

Reliability matters

We're a small team. Showing up on time, every shift, with a good attitude is the single most important thing.

Curiosity about food

You don't need a culinary background, but caring about the ingredients we sell — and being willing to learn — goes a long way.

Multilingual welcomed

Vietnamese, Spanish, Tagalog, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Thai — if you speak it, your customers will love you.

Common questions

A few things people ask before applying.

Still have questions? Call the store at (760) 735-9650 and ask for the manager.

What kind of schedules do you offer?
We hire for both full-time and part-time positions. Our store is open 8 AM – 8 PM, seven days a week, and most shifts fall inside that window (with some early-open and late-close prep time on either side). Weekends are our busiest days, so weekend availability is a big plus.
Do I need prior grocery experience?
For most front-end and stocking roles, no — we train. Specialty roles like butcher and shift lead generally do require relevant experience.
How soon will I hear back?
We review applications weekly. If we'd like to set up an interview, we'll call or email within 1–2 weeks. Feel free to follow up after that if you haven't heard from us.
Will you ask for my Social Security number or ID online?
Never. We verify identification and tax information in person, after we make an offer. If anyone claiming to represent the market asks for this online, it's not us.
